#LSPT-320 – ‘68-’72 CHEVELLE LS-1 TO LS-7 – LS Pro Tour header for stock chassis
$1,950.00 – $4,200.00
Header Specs:
This header is available in a pro-tour design with any tube size up to 2” with 3 ½” collectors. Also a race design up to 2” stepped to 2 1/8” tube size with up to a 4” collector. When designing this header we used Transdapt LS motor mount adapters
( #4572 or #4592 ) on the engine and small block frame mounts on the chassis. You can use rubber motor mounts or solid motor mounts ( Moroso #62510 ). We also designed a chrome moly transmission cross member for the open frame sedans. We do not have a cross member for the wagon, convertible or El Camino. The header is not designed for motor mid plates. Ground clearance is excellent with the bottom of the header higher than the “K” member. Spark plug access is good we recommend using aftermarket spark plug wires either Taylor or MSD with a 45 degree boot. Measuring from a stock oil pan we have 2 ½” of room on the driver side and 3 ¼” of room on the passenger side for oil pans with kick out sumps.
This header will not fit a factory air conditioning box on the fire wall, factory column shifter linkage or clutch linkage.
All of our LS headers come with oxygen sensor bungs welded in the collectors. If you request a “V” band connection for the exhaust reducers we would put the oxygen bungs in the reducers which can be rotated to any position.
Special note for LS-7 engines, the LS-7 stock oil pans have dry sump oil lines on the passenger side. These oil lines will interfere with our header and need to be redirected. Newman Car Creations makes a very nice CNC right angle oil block for this problem, it takes up very little space and keeps the oil lines away from the header. This is the best I’ve seen. Some other adapters come out too far and the lines end up close to the header. Contact Newman Car Creations: Paul Newman, 805-226-9201.
Header Installation:
Driver side, with the spark plugs and oil filter out you can install the header from below. If you have a kick out oil pan you may have to raise the engine.
Passenger side, with the starter and spark plugs out the header will install from below. If you have a kick out oil pan you may have to raise the engine. Be sure to reinstall the starter before bolting the header in place.
