#BBPT-664 BB Pro Tour header for stock chassis with rear rack and pinion steering

This header can be built in any tube size UP TO a 2 ¼” primary size with UP TO a 4” collector size. All of the tubes are inside the frame. Our headers are hand made to order so we can build them for any deck height and for any aftermarket cylinder head as long as the engine is in the correct position. See “Customer Measurements”.
On our design car we used a Danchuk #12184 motor mount kit, these mounts position the engine ¾” forward from the stock position to give your Big Block Firewall room. This header will also fit motor plates. We also used a Unisteer Tri-5 power steering rack #8010600-01. The mounting bracket bolts directly to the frame, using existing bolt holes in the frame. Other racks may not fit.
Position of the engine is critical, so if your engine is forward or backward from this position we need to know about it. We have measurements that the customer will have to take for us. See the “Customer Measurements Page” The engine and transmission must
Because the rack mounting bracket is so far back there was not enough room for a be centered in the chassis (see photos and dimensions). The steering column is the big issue here and every thing is close with these big tube headers, so if we ask you to take measurements please be sure they are as accurate as possible.Hitachi style mini starter or full size GM starter. We had to use a Power Master #9540 or #9500 starter, or a CVR #5323 starter also fits, these are Nippondenso style starters and are required for this header.
Milodon #31100, #31105, #30970 or #30975 six quart oil pans will fit with this rack and header combination. The available room for oil pan sump kick outs is 2”+ on the passenger side and 4¼” on the driver side. The #30970 and #30975 oil pans have qa kicked out sump and will trap the oil filter. The #31100 and #31105 pans are deeper and have no kick outs, so the oil filter will be accessable.
Ground clearance is excellent and spark plug access is very good. If you request evacuation tubes they will be installed on the top of the collectors The driver side e-vac tube may interfere with the emergency brake cable or be very close.
\The engine must be centered in the frame.
It does not fit original bell housing side mounts.
It is important to read our Yellow “Header Installation Tips” page before installing headers. It will make installation easier and save you time.
Installation: Pro-Tour Style header
Pro-tour style (all one piece) It may be necessary to raise the engine to install these headers. On our design car we were able to remove the driver header out the top with spark plugs, oil filter and steering column out of the way.
On the passenger side we removed the starter and the header went out the bottom. We had a stock oil pan with no kick outs. If your oil pan has sump kick outs you may have to raise the engine to install the headers and the starter.
Installation: Race Style header
Race style header is (individual tubes and slip on collectors).With the race style header install one tube at a time starting from front to back. Then install the collectors. See our installation tips page for additional information.
